If you’ve ever questioned the gratuitous violence and crude humor of many video games, or wondered if there is any value to be found in video games at all, I encourage you to check out Passage – a game designed by Jason Rohrer. You can download it for free here, and it takes a mere 4 to 5 minutes to play. There are no enemies to fight, no princess to rescue, instead an underlying message about the inevitability of the passage we all take through life.
It’s safe to download and will give you a flashback to the original pixelation of various Atari and Nintendo games. I won’t say more except that it made me want to hug my husband after playing it. Rohrer has designed several other games that are also free to download.
